More than meets the eye.

Me: So, I think we’re going to see “Transformers” this week.
Dad: you know, it got really bad reviews over here.
Me: Dad – it’s a movie about talking robots that turn into cars. I am not expecting much.
Dad: ok, then.

J & I took in Transformers tonight. Erica said I’d love it and she was. so. right. You all know me and my undying love for movies where lots of things blow up. To make the movie even better – “we can’t do this without the air force”. They had all sorts of cool USAF stuff – including some helicopters of which they only have three in the entire AF.

And of course they had a AWAC, with a team doing exactly what J does every time he goes up on a flight. Well, it’s not exactly that exciting every time. Incidentally, those guys on the AWAC were actual USAF out of Tinker AFB in Oklahoma City. J recognized at least one of them. And the “Darkstar” call sign they use in the film was his squadron’s call sign. All in all a very fun summer film. The good guys win and the bad guys lose. With a little wiggle room left for sequels.
