Happy New Year’s Eve!
Well, we’re back home in Germany – if only for another month or so. Friday was a LONG day of travel. We started at J’s parents house in Bryan, Texas. So: 3 hour drive to DFW, 8 hour flight to London, 2 hour layover at Gatwick, 1 hour flight to Amsterdam,
I wasn’t too exhausted to rush out and get Sophie from the kennel, however. I spent most of the trip home worried that something awful had happened to her while I was away (this is pretty normal for me, actually) and fretting over what I’d find. Turns out Sophie dog had a perfectly ok visit and was quite content. She was happy to see me, but not overly upset or anxious to leave even! There was a little confusion as J had told the kennel we didn’t expect to pick her up until the next day, and the kennel owner seemed quite sad to see her go. “oh, she ate very well for us,” I was informed as I went to pick her up. No kidding! She must have put on 2 or 3 pounds, at least. When you only weighed 8-10 pounds to begin with, it’s a big gain! But that’s all for the good – she looks fine and healthy and they seemed genuinely fond of her. I think she was well taken care of and I wouldn’t hestiate to use the kennel again. I just wish I had found them sooner.
We’re having a small get together at our home tonight – just us and another two couples. Should be a nice relaxing evening. Well, until all the Germans go crazy at midnight with their fireworks. Hope everyone has a safe and blessed new year’s eve!
