2007 recap, part 1.
Time for my recap of our year. (2006 recap can be found here and here) I hadn’t realized it until I began work on this post, but I believe I managed to travel somewhere every single month in 2007. Not bad! This will be the last exciting recap, unfortunately, as we’re leaving Europe next month. While I can’t wait to get back to the states, I expect my life will become dreadfully dull!
In January, we took a long weekend to see Rome. My favorite part of the trip was our tour of the catacombs beneath the Vatican. Fascinating and unusual.

Ruth, Gwen & I went to Amsterdam for a girl’s weekend in February. We had so much fun! I didn’t know Gwen all that well at the time, but she is one of my treasured friends now. I feel so lucky to have gotten to know her so well this year.

February was also exciting because it saw the birth of my very handsome and obviously brilliant nephew, Braydon AND because my husband was promoted to a major in the USAF. I was so proud of both occasions!

March was special because we took our first trip home since Chris & Kristen’s wedding in 2005. We first went to meet Braydon & see the Powell’s new home! It is a lovely part of the country – they live only a few minutes from Gettysburg & Eisenhower’s Farm, both of which we took time to visit. From Pennsylvania, we headed to Texas to see both sets of parents. J headed home after a week, but I managed a quick visit out to see Erica in Arizona.

We celebrated our third anniversary in April with a weekend in Gent, Belgium, and took a day trip to the gorgeous Keukenhof Gardens for my birthday.

Mom and I had a nice week in May visiting Vienna & Salzburg. We took the cheesey Sound of Music tour and went up to the Eagle’s Nest as well. Gorgeous views!

We took our second trip to the Normandy region in June. We were very fortunate to attend the D-Day Remembrance ceremony on June 6th at the American Cemetery. It was so moving to be there. We stayed at our favorite B&B in France, Le Mas Normand and enjoyed ourselves in spite of the terrible weather.
