Crib and other sundries.

So Baby M has a place to sleep! Or will shortly – we ordered her crib today. We ended up not buying the one I had thought we would, but instead went with another one that was a tiny bit more expensive, but we had a 15% off coupon, so I think it was a wash in the end. Baby Furniture is expensive. Just like wedding stuff, you stick “baby” in front of it and the price goes up!! Our crib looks kind of like this one, but is a slightly darker shade. Since we’re not painting the room – leaving it the nice neutral tone it is now – I’m not too worried about the furniture looking too dark. We’re also only buying one dresser to match, and a glider for me to nurse in. That’s all the stuff we’ll have in the room, so I don’t think it will be overwhelming. At least I hope not! :)

J and I are also looking for a new bed set for ourselves and discovered we’re having trouble agreeing on a particular style! It’s kind of funny, because usually we are so like minded in stuff for our house. We desparately want to finish our bedroom – the beautiful set we got for our wedding is just a little dark and the eiderdown is definitely too heavy! It was fine in Germany most of the year, but here with central heat we just don’t need such a heavy cover. I’m hot most nights now and expect to only get warmer the more pregnant I get! We did make more progress on the rest of the house – J kindly hung a few more pictures and we found a bath rug for the masterbath long enough to go in front of the entire vanity. Small steps, small steps.

Yesterday we had a nice visit with some of J’s coworkers at the yearly Pig Roast. Fortunately for me, we arrived after the pig had been roasted and dissembled. I’m not sure my stomach could have stood seeing that. Ick. But it sure tasted fantastic! The hosts have a lovely home – I enjoy seeing other people’s houses and how they’ve arranged and decorated them. Always gives me ideas.
