Heat!
Summer has hit us at long last. It’s a HOT day and tomorrow is supposed to be even hotter. I’m enjoying it, frankly. But I suppose if we had WEEKS of this I would get pretty tired of it and insist we install air conditioning. The house is all set up for it, we’d just have to put the AC unit in. I’m hoping I can hold out so we don’t have to spend the money. Surely if I can make it thru a summer here while pregnant, I can survive anything.
Since I’ve got pregnancy insomnia anyway, I was up early enough to open the whole house while it was still nice and cool. (around 5am) Got things down to around 70 inside and then closed everything up – windows, blinds, etc. We turned on the fans and the recycled air which has kept it fairly nice all day. It’s actually very similar to how we did things in Germany, except there we had rolladins to lower to keep out the heat.
This is probably the hottest time of the day for us – we get full sun all along the back of the house, but it’s still only around 78 inside according to the thermostat. Not too bad. Even Sophie seems ok…she and I spent some time napping in front of a fan this afternoon and she’s not even panting. Hopefully, it will cool down this evening and overnight before it heats back up tomorrow!
UPDATE: well, it got up to 82 in the house (!!!) yesterday before it cooled back down. Yuck. Today – Sunday – is supposed to be even hotter, so we’ll see how it goes…

Yea, a weather report. Sounds like it will be warm – at least I know what to pack and if I guessed wrong, well, I can always buy some sweats when I get there.
Sorry to hear about the insomnia. Sleep disturbances suck mightily. Hope you and Baby M are doing well, otherwise.

I can’t imagine how you are even remotely handling this while you’re pregnant! Good luck and I love you!

I know it’s totally different since I live in Arizona. But I thought I should add that we keep our AC set for 82 or warmer during the day and no cooler than 78 at night. Our electric bill still scares me this time of year. Granted, it’s been about 107 at the warmest part of the day and into the low 90’s at night so the AC is getting a big work out.
