25 Things About Me.
(This is one of those silly things going around Facebook, so I’m posting it here too!)
1. I stand 5 feet tall in my bare feet. This doesn’t bother me much, but it is really annoying to have to have EVERY pair of pants hemmed.
2. I miss living in Texas – hot summers & all. Maybe *especially* the hot summers now that I’ve lived in cooler climates for awhile. And TexMex! yum.
3. I did my graduate work at the University of Dallas, a small Catholic university, and it kinda freaked me out that there were crucifixes in every. single. room. I’m proud of my masters degree, but sometimes wish I had gotten a library science degree instead.
4. My last job was working part time at the International Library on base in Germany. It was the perfect job for me – I got to read all the new books first!
5. It surprises me how much I enjoy being a stay at home mom. I really thought I’d hate it, but Madeline is such an interesting little person I can’t imagine not getting to spend every day with her!
6. I hated being pregnant. I don’t want Maddie to be an only child, but I’m not looking forward to going through the process again. I would say the day I gave birth ranks right up there as the WORST day of my entire life. ugh. It was not a fun day. At least we got Madeline out of it!
7. I love my stinky old dog even though she drives me crazy sometimes.
8. My favorite way to pass the time is to read. And I’m an equal opportunity reader! I’ll read ANYTHING: trashy romance, popular fiction, classics, non-fiction. I’m particularly fond of British mysteries. Recently, I’ve been reading a bunch of old Albert Campion mysteries; the library digs them up from central storage for me. Other favorite authors: Rex Stout, Carol O’Connell, Elizabeth Peters and Agatha Christie.
9. The second & third toes on both my feet are webbed. My family loves to tease me about it.
10. My favorite author find of last year is Charlaine Harris. I actually “discovered” her Southern vampire mysteries (now a series on HBO, which I haven’t seen) several years ago, but only last year found her other series – Aurora Teagarden is my new favorite heroine! Her Lily Bard series, while gritty, is really good too.
11. I’m a lefty – and so is J! But not one of our parents are. Wondering if that means our daughter will be right-handed.
12. Someday I hope to go up in a hot air balloon, even though I am scared of heights.
13. I am so proud of the fact my husband serves our country in the air force. While the life can be tough, it’s a steady job with health benefits. (nothing to sneeze at in this economy) I’m so thankful J sticks with his career to make a good life for us!!
14. I’ve been to Paris 5 times & London 4 times. (so far!!) London is my favorite city in the world. I would love to live there for a couple of years.
15. I’m very very allergic to cats. Which is such a shame, because I like all animals & J would love to have a cat.
16. While I’m proud J is in the AF (see #13), I am really worried about him being sent to Afghanistan.
17. I really don’t like to cook. Eat, yes. Cook, no.
18. WHY is there no Sonic in the Seattle area?! Someone should really fix that ASAP. In fact, when I go home to Dallas, it’s usually the first stop on the drive from the airport to my parents house.
19. I wish I lived closer to my sisters & my parents. I feel very fortunate to actually *like* my family.
20. I love to travel & am so glad my husband does as well. We travel really well together. Some of my favorite trips we’ve taken together: Venice, Normandy Coast, and Ireland. ooh, and the New Year’s Eve we spent in Paris – NOTHING is more magical than seeing fireworks over the Eiffel Tower!
21. There is nothing more awesome than when Madeline smiles & laughs for me.
22. It is impossible for me to eat eggs without ketchup.
23. I’ll watch any movie where things blow up.
24. While I liked living in Germany (2003-2008) and traveling in Europe, I still think that the USA is an amazing country. At the risk of sounding corny, I’m very proud to be an American. I look forward to doing a lot more stateside travel in the coming years. So much to see!! Redwood Forests, Grand Canyon, Florida Keys: just a few of the places on my list of must sees.
25. It is a source of constant amazement to me that someone as wonderful as my husband could love ME. I don’t know what I’d do without him.

I miss Texas sometimes too. You and J are great and I love the way you talk about him. I think it’s cool you posted this here and on Facebook, I considered doing the same.

the ketchup on the eggs made me laugh – I actually remember that about you
I used to think it was very strange, but ketchup on a fried egg sandwich is the best… and really salsa on an egg breakfast taco is not that different
