Comments

Recently I heard from a “friend” (I put friend in quotes, because after the scathingly nasty email she sent, I doubt very much we’re friends) that she was pissed because I kept deleting her comments. Apparently it never occured to her that it could possibly be a technical issue. No, she’s just mad & doesn’t want to be friends any more.

Seriously?! Let’s think about this. Why in the world would I delete a comment from anyone (especially someone I know fairly well)? Only two possible reasons I would *ever* delete a comment: 1. it was wildly inappropriate (I do try to keep the site family friendly – hi, mom!) or 2. I just screwed up.

My blog is powered by Wordpress, which is great at filtering out all the massive amounts of spam comments I get. Unfortunately, occasionally valid comments get chucked in with the junk. I rarely if ever have the time to go through them all…I do try, but let’s face it, I’m lazy. I have a very busy 6 month old to keep up with all day every day, and the last thing I want to do with my evening is go thru a bunch of comments trying to sell me viagra, pictures of various unclad celebrities, etc etc. Right now there are over 7,000 comments waiting for me to delete them. 7,000! ugh. And it’s not like millions of people read my site – it’s purely for friends & family and I still get all that spam.

SO, if you are feeling slighted because your comment isn’t showing up, please just drop me a friendly email (you know, assuming we’re friends & all) letting me know. No reason to get your panties in a twist.
