Madeline & Sophie
When I posted the above picture on flickr, Alison asked how Madeline & Sophie were getting along, so I thought I’d mention it here, too.
Sophie is, as most of you know, pretty old. I have had her 12.5 years and the vet estimated she was at least 2 and possibly 3 when I adopted her (I *like* to pretend she was only 1, but that’s just not realistic). So best guess is Sophie is almost 15, which is ridiculously old in people years. J & I joke that Sophie is too mean to die & will just keep dragging herself along to spite him, but I’ve definitely noticed a decline in her activity.
In spite of her age, Sophie has been pretty ok about the baby. She will come over and smell her when we’re playing on the floor, check things out then go back to sleep. There’s been absolutely no sign of agression. Of course, right now, Soph can still outrun the baby. We’ll have to see if that changes once Madeline is more mobile. Right now, she’s just sort of scooting along, not actually crawling.
Madeline LOVES Sophie. Her whole face just lights up when Sophie gets close to her. I’ve very cautiously & carefully helped Madeline pet the dog, which makes her laugh. It’s so cute! Sophie doesn’t seem to mind.

Sometimes my friend Sarah* watches Maude when I’m out of town. One of Maude’s favorite things is to try to get Sarah’s one-year-old daughter Charlotte to chase her around the room. It’s fun for Maude because she’s so much faster than Charlotte.
*Recipient of the babylegs you sent me, which she loved! She’s either going to try them out on Charlotte or on the bun she’s got in the oven.

oh, I’m so glad she could use them. they just didn’t work for us and I hated to see them go to waste.
And you should get Maude & Charlotte on video – I’ll bet they’re hilarious!!
