8 Months Old

Madeline turned 8 months old, and we’ll just pretend I wrote this yesterday. It was another month of big changes – what with all the crawling, moving, standing…another big change is that she now allows me to read books to her with out her trying to eat them at the same time. It’s a huge improvement from having to wrestle her for them. Her favorite books are “Mr. Brown Can Moo, Can You?” and “Open the Barn Door.” I read them half dozen times a day and they always always make her smile. (I lead a wildly exciting life, as you can tell.)
She has three teeth all coming in at once right now and she chews on everything in sight. She adores Sophie & gets so excited when Sophie comes over and stands next to her. We’re still working on the petting, but Sophie tolerates her, mostly, and really likes the puffs Madeline drops from the high chair.
Other things have been going on…I got my eyes checked and the doctor was surprised I’ve been managing to stumble around with the glasses I have now. I turned another year older – oh, joy – and went out for a really nice Mexican dinner at Cactus in Madison Park with some fabulous ladies. I celebrated my first mother’s day – J sent flowers. I read the new Jim Butcher.
And we’re another month closer to J being back home.
