Tempest in a Teapot

I figured I’d better get cracking on writing this up – at the rate I’m going, it will be September before I get this posted. I just really wanted to capture her first year with a month-to-month picture taken in the same place. I missed the first couple of months, but didn’t do too bad a job …

So, for her 11 month birthday, Madeline got herself an ear infection. She started running a high fever (103), so I took her into the urgent care clinic on Friday afternoon. She’s never had a fever over 100 before, so I was nervous. Doc gave us amoxicilian (did I spell that right?), and said not to worry, just an ear infection. *whew* Of course, now that she’s finished with the amox, she has a oh-so-lovely diaper rash! Had to get a perscription cream for that, poor baby.

So, let’s see, what happened this month? OH YEAH, she started walking!!! It’s amazing – kid is already SO fast. A first she only took a few steps at a time, then starting bouncing around like a pinball between the furniture and now she’s just trucking along. All in the space of like 2 weeks. Can’t believe how fast my baby has grown up!

(Incidentally, I think this is how people get suckered into having a second baby – you’ve forgotten all those miserable sleep deprived nights and just remember how cute they were when they were little tiny babies who stayed where you put them.)

Where was I? Oh yes, new things. She’s eating all sorts of new foods – she loves nectarines, but not so crazy about the black beans – and getting into all sorts of trouble! Her favorite activity right now involves opening her dresser drawers & pulling all her clothes out. I’ve given up refolding her pajamas. She has also enjoyed Little Gym classes and absolutely loves doing somersaults! She giggles every single time. Cracks me up. Thanks to her VERY generous grandparents, we’ve signed up for the fall semester, too. Thanks, Grandparents!

Hard to believe it’s been almost a year she since came into our lives…I’m getting excited about her birthday next month AND about the fact that her daddy will be home soon too!!!! Yay!!!

(oh, and yes, I know my comments don’t work…my sister promised to fix them, but that was like 5 months ago, so no idea if she’ll have a chance to get to them. Haven’t figured out how to just turn them off.)
