2009, Part 2
You don’t realize how used to having help you are until that help is gone.
J was a huge help the first months of Madeline’s life – completely involved in everything from baths to bed time. Plus he took the trash out every week, took care of the cars, etc. So when he left it was a huge shock to my system. It took me a couple of weeks to get the hang of things, but the time away from him really helped me see that I am fully capable of dealing with everything. It was very empowering. I handled property taxes and the mortgage, registration for our cars, paying the bills and all the details of the rental car accident that happened in Bryan (UGH), Martha’s flat tire, not to mention traveling alone to Texas with an infant (TWICE)…anyhow, suffice to say I coped. And actually, I coped pretty darn well, I think. (I am, however, exceedingly glad J is back)

Madeline went to her first birthday party at her friend Ashlyn’s house –
Ashlyn’s grandma is pulling the girls around in the new wagon Ashlyn got for her birthday. They obviously enjoyed themselves. 
Kimberly (Ashlyn’s mom) has become a dear friend this year – I am so grateful for her friendship!
Madeline began to walk –
She turned 1 & we had a birthday party for her –
And FINALLY her daddy came home –
She looks a little nervous in the picture, but she warmed up to him very quickly. It was just loud & chaotic at the airport.
