Parental Love
A couple of weeks ago, I took M to a make up class at Little Gym. It wasn’t our usual class – it started a full hour earlier. (Becoming a mom doesn’t magically make you a morning person, btw. I *still* don’t do very well in the mornings.) We got there in plenty of time, but then during the welcoming circle the teacher asked us to mention something “enchanting” about our kid. And my brain just froze. I couldn’t think of a single thing – obviously I hadn’t had any coffee yet. I think I mumbled something about her being a good sleeper.
Other parents said such cute things about their kids and it made me feel a little sheepish. Geez, I can’t think of ONE nice thing about my kid?? So I thought I’d list a few of the things I that she does that I love in hopes of redeeming myself…
.When she hugs me, she often pats me on the back. it is the cutest. thing. ever.
.How she runs to meet her daddy when he gets home from work.
.How she insists on sleeping with BOTH her baby dolls-one in each arm.
.How excited she gets to see Si-Si (Sophie)
.How she dances. it’s part mashed potatoes part spinning-in-cirles-until-i-fall-down.
.How she swings from a bar at Little Gym (or the playground). It’s usually accompanied by a “WHEE!”
