Tuesday, November 21st, 2006I’m recovering from a very busy couple of days – we had our fall bazaar this past weekend on base. (we = the American Women spouse’s group at the base) While technically I wasn’t in charge of anything important this time around, I still managed to practically live in the hangar for 4 days!
To explain for those of you who don’t know…the “bazaar” is just a glorified fundraiser – we bring in vendors from all over Europe – jewelry, glass, rugs, furniture, paintings, etc – to a hangar on base for 3 days of selling. 10% of the profits go to the AW group. That money is what we use to give scholarships and fund activities on the base. This was my 3rd bazaar to be involved with. Since we plan on this being our last year over here in Europe, J & I took the plunge and bought our Turkish rugs. We bought a 6×9 for the living room and a smaller one (3×5, maybe?) for our bedroom. They are gorgeous! While they weren’t exactly cheap, I think we got a pretty good deal. And, of course, I expect them to last a lifetime…perhaps several lifetimes!
