Life List
Saturday, June 19th, 2010So, it’s kind of a thing right now to make a Life List. You know, a list of all the things you want to do in life before it’s over (some people call it a bucket list). Well, I started it and it just got me depressed because a lot of the things I want to do don’t seem feasible right now and really it could be YEARS before I am able to attempt some of them. I know that’s the point of the whole thing, but still, it got me down.
So to cheer myself up, I decided to make up a version of things I’ve *already* done that could be considered life list items. Once I got started, it quickly outpaced my other list. Let me tell you right now: I have had an AMAZING life. Here’s a few highlights…
.had my first Brazilian steak house experience…IN BRAZIL.
.spent a New Year’s Eve on the Champs Elysees watching fireworks explode over the Eiffel Tower.
.saw a glacier calving in Alaska.
.married a pretty great guy.
.ziplined through the cloud forest in Costa Rica (what? ziplined isn’t a verb?)
.drank wine on a beautiful day in San Marco Square
.saw U2 perform in Amsterdam
.gave birth to a wonderful daughter
.attended a private event at the Supreme Court in Washington, DC
.took the Sound of Music tour in Salzburg
.stuck my toes in the Indian Ocean while visiting Bali.
.attended a D-Day rememberence ceremony in Normandy
.rescued a great dog from a shelter (13.5 years together so far!)
.ate at Rick’s Cafe in Casablanca (and saw the tree goats)
And these are just a few things. I could go on & on. Thanks goes to my parents who started us traveling young – my first trip overseas was when I was in high school – and to my husband, who married me & whisked me off to Germany. I hope he & I have many more years of making amazing memories together.
Getting to do life list items with someone you love just makes them that much more amazing, don’t you think?
